VALVE TYPE
Check Valves
No operator, no actuator — flow direction does the work.
Automatic one-way valve: forward flow opens it, reverse flow closes it. Protects pumps, compressors and process headers from backflow — no operator, no actuator, no throttle function.
The envelope

| Functions | check |

Screened at the functional level only: solids rule out dual-plate wafer designs, vertical-down flow rules out gravity-closing designs, and critical pump-discharge slam needs a transient study the tool does not perform (dispute check_valve_sizing). Subtype choice stays with the manufacturer. Size×class envelope follows Neway wafer + axial-flow check ranges (axial-flow is the high-class / large-bore answer).
Where it is used
- Backflow prevention at pump and compressor discharge
- Anywhere reverse flow would damage equipment or contaminate a header
- Swing, dual-plate, lift and axial-flow subtypes cover the class range
Where it stops
- Screened at the functional level only — subtype choice stays with the manufacturer
- Solids rule out dual-plate wafer designs; vertical-down flow rules out gravity-closing designs
- Critical pump-discharge slam needs a transient study this tool does not perform
