Hydrogen service is a gas duty with three extra problems: tiny molecules that find every leak path, material embrittlement that constrains alloys and hardness, and a standards landscape that is only now naming the duty. This site's media library is deliberately weighted toward process liquids; hydrogen is not in it, and we do not fake a stand-in medium to make the engine answer.
The standards system is moving fast — API 6D's 25th edition writes hydrogen gas service into the pipeline-valve specification as Annex M with its own specification level (SLH). When a verifiable data layer exists, this page will become an answer page. Until then, hydrogen duties go through the inquiry channel.
Typical duties
| Hydrogen pipeline isolation | Gas duty, Annex M / SLH territory — engineering review |
|---|---|
| Refuelling-station and electrolyser balance-of-plant | High-pressure gas — outside the automatic envelope |
| Hydrogen-bearing process gas | Composition decides — state it in the inquiry |
This application sits outside the tool's data boundary — the reason is stated above, not hidden. Send the duty through the inquiry channel and a manufacturer's engineering team confirms it by hand.

What to watch
- No demo run on this page: there is no hydrogen entry in the KB, and substituting natural gas would be exactly the kind of approximation we refuse.
- Annex M gives procurement a named way to say 'hydrogen' — the linked article decodes it.
- Chinese makers are already winning hydrogen-service valve awards — see the reported case below.

Boundary rule: this page states single-point conclusions from the site's knowledge base — no supplier names, no matrices. The full 40-medium library lives in the selector.
