Nuclear Gate Valves: A Suzhou Maker Wins the Phase-I Package at the Xiapu HPR1000 Project

Neway Valve has won the electric and pneumatic gate-valve package for phase I of the Xiapu nuclear power project — RMB 84.59 million, and the maker's third award at the site since July.

Lead

Neway Valve (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. has won the procurement package for electric and pneumatic gate valves for phase I of the Huaneng Xiapu nuclear power project, with a contract value of RMB 84.59 million, according to the valve branch of the China General Machinery Industry Association (中国通用机械工业协会阀门分会).

Facts

The award. The association's valve branch reports that the Suzhou maker announced on 8 September 2026 that it had won the package, tendered by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. as the project's engineering procurer. The project. The Xiapu phase-I project sits at Changbiao island in Changchun township, Xiapu county, Fujian — described as a Class I coastal nuclear site. The project is controlled by China Huaneng Group as its third large pressurised-water-reactor project; five units are planned in phases, and phase I comprises two HPR1000 gigawatt-class PWR units with a total investment of about RMB 45.6 billion, approved by the State Council on 27 April 2025. The owner is Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Co. (华能霞浦核电有限公司). (Source: the same.)

The sequence at the site. Trade-press coverage of the award notes that this is the maker's third win at phase I in three months: a RMB 2.69 million package of lift check valves in July 2026 and a RMB 25.0 million package of swing check valves in August 2026 preceded the gate-valve award, putting the maker's reported cumulative awards at the project above RMB 112 million. The maker. Neway Valve (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and is described in the coverage as one of the few Chinese makers with design and manufacturing capability across the full series of nuclear-class-one valves. (Source: the same.)
