Methanol Valves
Benign to most metals — the seal material is the real question.
Flammable + toxic — tight shutoff (ISO 5208 Rate A) strongly recommended; check elastomer compatibility (use PTFE/FFKM seals).
Service flags: flammable, toxic.
Materials at a glance
| Material | Rating | Up to |

Ratings: Excellent / Good / Conditional / Not recommended, from this site's boundary-and-medium data set. The manufacturer's data sheet for the specific product governs.
What drives the choice
- Carbon and stainless steels are both comfortable
- Elastomer choice matters more than the alloy — methanol attacks some rubbers
- Flammable: fugitive-emission terms belong in the specification where the site rules require them
Where the boundaries sit
- Certified low-emission duty follows ISO 15848 / API 624 practice, not the material chart
