Hydrogen Peroxide Valves
An oxidiser that passivates the right stainless and attacks the wrong one.
Strong oxidizer — tight shutoff recommended. Passivated 304/316 is standard; copper-bearing alloys catalyze dangerous decomposition. Ventilation of trapped cavities required.
Service flags: toxic.
Materials at a glance
| Material | Rating | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel 304 (ASTM A351 CF8) | Excellent | 60 °C |
| Stainless steel 316 (ASTM A351 CF8M) | Excellent | 80 °C |
| Titanium Gr.2 (ASTM B367 C2) | Good | 60 °C |
| PTFE/PFA-lined ductile iron | Excellent | 100 °C |
Ratings: Excellent / Good / Conditional / Not recommended, from this site's boundary-and-medium data set. The manufacturer's data sheet for the specific product governs.
What drives the choice
- Passivated 304/316 stainless or aluminium are the documented materials
- Copper-bearing alloys and carbon steel are out — decomposition risk
- Cleanliness and passivation state belong in the RFQ
Where the boundaries sit
- Concentration above the published band, or contaminated product, leaves the chart
