Easy when clean and sweet — the sulphur content changes the document.
Composition varies widely — high-TAN (naphthenic acid) or high-sulfur crudes above 180 °C require upgraded alloys; state crude specs in your inquiry.
Service flags: flammable.

What drives the choice
- Sweet crude is a standard carbon-steel duty
- H₂S-bearing crude moves the specification into NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 territory — say which it is
- Wax and asphaltene content affect the seat choice more than the body
Where the boundaries sit
- Sour crude is not a material preference — it is a certification route
